Part of the staff learning series, this is an excellent opportunity for those working in the field of FASD to learn about the complexity of the assessment needed to make a diagnosis of FASD
Participants will learn:
- To understand the complexity of the assessment needed to make the diagnosis of FASD.
- To appreciate the need for a multidisciplinary team to assess the brain dysfunction associated with prenatal exposure to alcohol.
- To see how this disability presents across the life-span of the individual with FASD underlying the need for ongoing supports.
The video-conference features Dr. Gail Andrew, a pediatrician and medical director of the Glenrose FASD Clinical Services. Her main interest has been in the area of developmental, behavioral and emotional challenges of children, especially those with known at risk factors. She has been involved in all aspects of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, including prevention, diagnostic assessment, interventions and support and involved in several research projects.
